I have been blessed by every person I have come across in this new journey. Heather was no exception. She is one of the sweetest and kindest people I have ever met. She is beautiful inside and out. I have found each person has their own hurdles to clear. Heather’s hurdle was being afraid she would comply with medical decisions she was uncomfortable with. We worked on finding her voice, even if that was saying “Can I take a moment to think about it?” Birth is not just a moment in life it’s a journey that we travel where “Change is inevitable, growth is optional” (quote – John Maxwell). Heather’s growth in finding her mama voice was beautiful.
I enjoyed working with her and by the sounds of her testimony, she feels the same!
Hands down one of the best decisions I made surrounding my pregnancy and birth journey was finding a doula, and more specifically finding Gretchen. Being my first time, I had no idea exactly what to expect and had a lot of anxieties and fears of the unknown. Gretchen was a breath of fresh air and made me feel so comfortable from the second I met her. Having Gretchen by my side meant that I was well informed on all of the big decisions I would be making for my new baby once he arrived, and she helped me feel more empowered to speak my mind when it came to my own body and decide what I did and didn’t want during my birth experience. She helped me feel more confident going into the unknowns and helped me ask the right questions at the hospital to make the best decisions for myself and my family. My husband was an amazing partner but it doesn’t mean that he knows all of the ins and outs of the birthing process so to have someone with me that is well versed and highly trained in the labor process was such a peace of mind. She went above and beyond with every visit before the delivery, during, and even afterwards. I always felt like I could reach out to her and ask her anything at any hour of the day. Whether you have a home birth, hospital birth, planned induction, or spontaneous labor, having someone who is widely knowledgeable about the process of labor and how to move things along smoothly and on your terms is such a blessing. I am so grateful I had her by my side in one of the most vulnerable, raw, and emotional experiences of my life. I can’t say enough good words about her and how much value she brings to her clients’ lives. This is truly God’s calling for her.
